Update, November 11, 2014: added photos of another Scopoli's-type (diomedea) f rom 2008 - at the bottom of the page:

These Cory's Shearwaters Calonectris diomedea were photographed on a pelagic off the Texas coast on July 16, 2004 by Andy Garcia; are they all borealis, all diomedea, or a mixture of both?:
The birds in this group seem to exhibit all the published features of diomedea, with the extensive white inner webs to the bases of the primaries below, rather short yet slim bill, pale head, and slender neck:

Not sure about these; they look more borealis-like, yet at least one seems to have extensive white in the bases of the primaries from below:

Update: here's some more Cory's from pelagics out from Port Isabel, Texas:
does this have enough white at the base of the primaries for diomedea?

does this have enough white at the base of the primaries for diomedea?

These birds are clearly borealis:

Update, November 11, 2014: I took these poor pics of a Scopoli's-type (diomedea) f rom within half-a-mile of South Padre Island, Cameron county, Texas on September 06, 2008
